POLICIES & PROCEDURES
Wait List Policy:
Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour members are accepted into events on a first-come first-served basis. If an event becomes oversubscribed we will form a wait list. If spots become available, players will be moved to the active player roster based on their order of entry.
No Show/No Card:
No Show – Submitted for Rankings ( NS ):
If a player begins a tournament and completes one or more rounds, signs a scorecard, and does not show up for a subsequent tee time without contacting an official, it will be recorded as a No Show ( NS ) and all official round scores for the event will be submitted for rankings
No Card – Submitted for Rankings ( NC ):
If a player begins the tournament, and for any reason other than a justified withdrawal, fails to turn in a signed scorecard for a completed round, it will be recorded as a No Card ( NC ) and all official round scores for the event will be submitted for the rankings
If a player does not show up for an event and has not made contact with the RMJGT staff prior to the event, it will be recorded. The same procedure will be taken if a player does not turn in his/her scorecard at the end of a round. If either of these events occurs twice, the player will be suspended from future RMJGT events.
Pace of Play Policy:
The pace of play at our events is very important to us. To alleviate pace of play issues, please keep in mind the amount of time allotted for each hole:
-par 5: 18 minutes
-par 4: 15 minutes
-par 3: 12 minutes
At the start of every event, the starter will announce the amount of time you are allotted to play the course.
All 18 holes on the golf course will be monitored.
The RMJGT will utilize a color-coded notification sign system (Green, Yellow, Red signs – see below)
An RMJGT staff member, inside the scoring area, will confirm penalties with groups.
It’s the players responsibility to know what color cards they receive throughout the round.
The 1st group of the day is measured against time par until they get into position with any group in front of them.
A Green sign means your group is in position AND/OR positioned within the allotted time.
A Yellow sign means your group is being given an OFFICIAL warning that you are behind pace.
A reasonable amount of time(two holes will be given for your group to catch up. The RMJGT Staff will observe to make sure you are visibly working together, moving quickly to close the gap.
If your group does not catch up or make an effort to get in proper position you will be issued a penalty.
A Red Sign mean your group is out of position AND over the allotted time you have not cured the gap. Your group will be assessed a penalty.
- YELLOW SIGN – warning* (warning remains for duration of the round – Yellow sign)
- RED SIGN – liable to a penalty of one stroke
- 2nd RED SIGN – liable to an additional penalty of two strokes
- 3rd RED SIGN – liable to disqualification
- Once a group receives a Red card and a penalty, they will have 2 holes to get either back in position OR under time par. If after 2 holes the group is still out of position AND over time par the group is liable to receive another Red sign and penalty.
- When the group is back in position OR under time par they will receive a Green card.
- When a group falls behind- regardless of the reason it must regain its position. Time for ball searches, rulings and walking time between holes is included in all maximum allowable times
- The group will be liable to penalties if in the Committee’s view a reasonable effort was not made by the players to complete their round within the allotted time. Any penalties will be confirmed in the scoring area.
Penalties for being “out of position”:
1st violation: verbal warning
2nd violation: 1 stroke penalty
3rd violation: 2 stroke penalty
Additional violations: disqualification
Once we have realized that a group is “out of position,” monitoring will occur by a Rules Official or other RMJGT staff member. Each player is expected to play a shot in no longer than 40 seconds, excluding play on the putting green. Timing will begin once the player has reached his/her ball, it’s his/her time to play and there are no distractions. Determining yardages is considered as part of your shot and will be included in the timing.
A tie for 1st place will be dealt with a by a sudden death playoff. Playoff holes will be decided by the committee based on what is available at the course. Ties for any other place will be handled according to the scorecard playoff procedure.
Scorecard Playoff Procedure:
A winner will be decided by the lowest score on the last nine holes, (the last nine holes will be 10-18, even for a shotgun or double tee starting format). If a tie still exists after the last nine holes, then the winner will be decided by the last six holes. If a tie still exists, the winner will be decided by the last three holes. If a tie still exists, the winner will be decided by the last hole. If a tie still exists, the scorecard procedure will be applied to the first nine holes until a winner is decided.
Note: Our first priority is a sudden death playoff, but if for any reason a sudden death playoff cannot occur, (inclement weather, course availability, etc) then we will resort to a scorecard playoff.
Tournament Registration & Tee-Times:
All tournament registration will take place online. Tournament registration for Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour events will be accepted up to a day before the event or until the tournament is sold out. Tee times will be posted online a few days prior to the event. If a waitlist is necessary, an email will be sent if/when a player has been accepted into an event.
Stroke Limit Policy:
There is no stroke limit in the Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour.
Cell Phone Policy:
Use of cell phones by players, parents or spectators will not be permitted at any time during tournament play. IPOD and MP3 players are not permitted. Violation of this policy results in disqualification.
Players are not allowed to rent motorized carts. There may be shuttle services provided at some events and players will be notified at the start if this applies to an event they are participating in. A two stroke penalty will be assessed for players riding on an unauthorized cart during a stipulated round. Pull carts are allowed as long as they are in compliance with the host course’s policy. Parents/spectators may rent carts if the course allows. However, ONLY 2 carts will be permitted per group. Carts will be rented to parents/spectators on a 1st come 1st serve basis. If there are already 2 carts rented for your group, no other carts will be issued.
Financial assistance is available to all players upon request. Eligibility will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
The RMJGT will make every effort to play an event to the conclusion. We will continue play in wet weather and cold weather unless lightning or severe weather is in the near forecast. In the event the participants need to evacuate the course, tournament officials and the host facility will sound an air horn. Once the air horn is blown you must discontinue all play. Wherever your ball lies, please mark it and we will make every effort to continue play. If an event is shortened due to rain there will be no refunds or credits issued.
In the event a stipulated round is canceled due to inclement weather, the RMJGT will make every effort to post a score for that particular day. 9 hole increments will be used for shortened rounds. An entire age division must be through at least the same 9 holes for the score to post for that day otherwise no scores will be posted. If a stipulated round is completed by some groups and not others, the round WILL be official for those that finished the appropriate number of holes. No credits or refunds will be issued for shortened events.
In the event that NO golf is played and the ENTIRE tournament is cancelled, RMJGT will work with the course to reschedule at a later date. If rescheduling is not an option for RMJGT or the course, the tournament fee will be used for entry into a future RMJGT event.
Measuring Devices/Range Finders:
Players must be aware of Rule 14-3 in regard to the use of a distance-measuring device. This means that in accordance with the local rule allowing for the use of measuring devices, those devices may measure or gauge distance only. The use of a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect a player’s play (e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.) is not permitted regardless of whether such an additional function is used.
RMJGT Tournament Staff had the right to adjust tournament yardages at any time based on weather, course conditions, and difficulty of golf course.
The RMJGT will offer families discounts that have two or more junior golfers. Participants who register one player at the normal rate will be eligible to register their brother or sister at a 25% discount. This rate will only apply to those who have brothers and sisters in an effort to help families that have two or more children who are playing tournament golf. In order to receive this discount you MUST call the RMJGT office. This rate is not available online and cannot be adjusted once the regular rate has been charged.

The initial deposit is non-refundable.
A withdrawal within 8 to 14 days of the event will result in 50% of the tournament fee to be applied to a future event during the season.
A withdrawal within 7 days of the event will result in a forfeit of the entire tournament fee. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
Withdrawal – Submitted for Rankings ( WD ):
If a player begins a tournament and completes one or more rounds, signs a scorecard, and notifies an official they will not be going on without a justifiable and independently verifiable reason, it will be recorded as a Withdrawal ( WD ) and all official round scores for the event will be submitted for rankings
If you need to withdraw from an event, please contact the tour staff as soon as possible so we may add another player from the waitlist. Please contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the body of the email, make sure to include the player’s full name, the name of the event(s) and the date of the event(s). Once this has been received by the staff, you will receive an email confirming your withdrawal. If you need to withdraw on the morning of the event, please also contact the host facility. Please refer to our refund policy. If a player withdraws during a round, he/she MUST attest to the scores he/she has kept to that point. Please be respectful and inform an RMJGT staff member.
Justifiable Withdrawal – Not submitted for Rankings ( JWD ):
If a player tees it up, plays a complete or partial round and notifies an official with a justifiable and independently verifiable reason such as clearly swollen ankle, bee sting, etc…, it will be recorded as a Justifiable Withdrawal ( JWD ) and will not be submitted for rankings. However, hurt wrists, bad back, sore neck, or not feeling well are not reasons for a JWD. Receipt for treatment from medical personnel will be accepted and considered when making these decisions by the tournament committee.
Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour is open to any junior golfer age 10-19*. Age divisions will be determined by the player’s birth year. For example, any player born in 1999 will compete in the 15-19 age division. Our age divisions are broken down as follows:
10 & U
Players may stay in an age division until December 31st even if they have a birthday that puts them in an older age bracket. January 1st players must move to the next division.
*A junior golfer is an amateur golfer who will be permitted to participate the full calendar year up to their 20th birthday.
